Gary O’Neil paid tribute to Mario Lemina after the midfielder missed Wolves’ impressive victory over Everton following the death of his father.

A third straight win for Wolves – for the first time in the Premier League for almost two years – saw them crush the Toffees 3-0.

The squad celebrated their goals – from Max Kilman, Matheus Cunha and Craig Dawson – with Lemina’s shirt with the midfielder having travelled to France to be with his family.

Conte not interested in discussing Inter future amid Serie A title push

Antonio Conte is focused only on this season with Inter, rather than his long-term future at the club, as the Serie A leaders prepare to host Atalanta.

Inter s 2-1 triumph at Parma on Thursday – sealed thanks to a brace from Alexis Sanchez – made it four league wins on the spin, though Conte acknowledges there is still a long way to go yet in their bid for a first Scudetto since 2010.

The former Juventus and Chelsea boss is in his second year in charge of the Nerazzurri, his current deal running until the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

It remains to be seen if he will sign an extension to extend his tenure beyond then, though his primary concern right now is staying clear of the chasing pack in the title race.

Can Real Madrid prevent another Anfield miracle? The Champions League in Opta numbers

Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are preparing for home quarter-final legs knowing only victories will give them a chance of reaching the Champions League last four.

Jurgen Klopp s side were beaten 3-1 by Real Madrid in the Spanish capital last week, the scoreline matching that of the 2018 final, when Zinedine Zidane won the trophy for the third year running.

Of course, the Reds have history of famous Anfield comebacks, most notably two years ago when Barcelona were stunned on Merseyside after winning the semi-final first leg 3-0.

Dortmund are also in need of a spirited display. Marco Reus away goal gave them a foothold in the tie against Manchester City, but a late winner from Phil Foden at the Etihad Stadium means the Premier League leaders have the advantage.

Ronaldo slots straight into Man Utd starting XI for second debut with Cavani absent

Cristiano Ronaldo was handed his second Manchester United debut after he was named in their starting XI for Saturday s visit of Newcastle United.

The five-time Ballon d Or winner completed his return to the club when he arrived from Juventus two weeks ago for an initial fee of £12.9million (€15m) on a two-year deal with the option of a third.

After being granted permission to leave Portugal duty early and then serving a period of isolation, Ronaldo reported to United s training ground for the first time on Tuesday.

He began training with his new team-mates the next day and is now set to play his first Premier League game since May 2009 – the longest gap between appearances in the competition s history.

Jordan 1-3 Spain: Young stars strike to give La Roja victory in final World Cup warm-up

Goals from Ansu Fati, Gavi and Nico Williams gave Spain a comfortable 3-1 victory over Jordan on Thursday in their final warm-up match before the World Cup.

Luis Enrique s men were dominant throughout and took the lead through Fati s blasted effort early in the first half.

Gavi finished beautifully for their second before Williams added a third, and though Jordan scored a late consolation, Spain made it eight wins from their last 11 matches as they head to Qatar in excellent form.

Spain will now turn their attentions to putting together the finishing touches ahead of their World Cup campaign, having not made it past the round of 16 since winning the tournament in 2010.

Fati put Spain ahead after 13 minutes when Marco Asensio laid the ball off to him in th…

Messi to MLS in 2020?

David Beckham, who heads the ownership group of Inter Miami, is keen on bringing s Lionel Messi to the MLS, according to Jonathan Northcroft of .

Inter Miami are not, however, to start their involvement in the USA s top division before 2020, and Beckam hopes to lure the Argentine superstar across the Atlantic then. By that time, Messi will have turned 33 and have only a year remaining on his current Barcelona contract unless a new agreement is made by then. The buyout clause set for the five-times Balon d Or winner is a staggering £626 million.

Northcroft claims the view is that at that time, with just a year remaining on the deal and Messi set to turn 34 soon afterwards, the goal of signing one of the greatest players in recent times might become plausible, and that…

´My contract goes until 2024´ – Santos not worried after Portugal defeat

Fernando Santos had no concerns around his future as Portugal coach after his team lost 1-0 to Spain and missed out on a place at the Nations League Finals.

Spain s dramatic victory came courtesy of Alvaro Morata s goal in the 88th minute, sending La Roja to next year s tournament instead of Portugal.

Having only needed a draw to advance, the late winner was of great frustration to Santos, but he would not entertain talk around his status as coach.

Informed of criticism and asked whether poor results would affect his position, Santos shot back: Well, that s fine. But what should I answer? It doesn t pinch [impact] me at all.

Do you want to be more direct or is that your question?

My contract goes until 2024. I can t be more direct than that.

Atalanta 2-3 Fiorentina: Scalvini injured as La Dea miss chance to finish third

Italy defender Giorgio Scalvini was forced off injured as Atalanta failed to secure a third-place finish in Serie A on Sunday, being substituted late on in a 3-2 loss to Fiorentina.

The Europa League winners faced the Europa Conference League runners-up in Bergamo one week after the rest of the league played their final games of 2023-24, with the teams unable to meet before now due to their European commitments.

A victory would have taken Gian Piero Gasperini s team – who were guaranteed a top-four finish – above Juventus into third, but Andrea Belotti put them behind within six minutes.

Ademola Lookman raced clear to equalise with a dinked finish within six further minutes, but Nicolas Gonzalez s fine volley soon re-established the Viola s lead.
